Entrance Test : 16 and 17 September 2024
Program details
The quiz, which has a total of five rounds, will test understanding of concepts, solving problems through scientific principles and applying principles – not just concepts, figures and astronomical events.
Stage 1: This is an online multiple choice question test for students of entire Karnataka state. All students who score more than 70% marks in this phase will be given e-certificate.
From the four divisions of Karnataka namely Bangalore, Belgaum, Kalburgi and Mysore, the first hundred students who scored the highest marks in the first stage are selected. All 100 selected students will be given a prize along with a certificate of appreciation.
Stage 2: One hundred selected students from each department will participate in the written test at the designated science center of their respective department. Sixteen students who score highest in the written test will be selected from each section. Rest of the students will be given prize and certificate of appreciation.
Stage 3: 16 students selected up to the third stage in each section will be divided into 4 teams and quiz will be conducted. The first four students in each team will be selected for the next round. Rest of the students will be given prize and certificate of appreciation.
Stage 4: Re-examine the four selected students, one student from each category will be selected. Rest of the students will be given prize and certificate of appreciation.
Stage 5: The final stage quiz will be held in Bangalore for the winning students from all the four sections. First, second and two third prizes will be given to the winning candidates.
First Prize : Rs.40,000-00
Second Prize : Rs.30,00-00
Third Prize : Rs.10,00-00 (two each)

The mock test can be taken on August 30 and August 31. The link will be sent to the registered email.
Exam Details:
The first step will be the online entrance test. In this exam 25 questions have to be answered in 30 minutes. This exam is being conducted on two separate days for the convenience of the students. Students can take the exam on the day convenient for them or on both the days. In case students have taken both the exams, the exam in which they performed better will be taken into account. Good performance is determined by high score and time taken for the exam.

The link for these entrance exams will be sent to them through e-mail. The result of this exam will be informed through e-mail and our website www.taralaya.org. Students should also check their inbox and spam/junk folders for our e-mail.
Contest Rules
1. This competition is only for students who are currently studying in 8th, 9th and 10th standard in Karnataka state. In this regard proper identity card must be shown otherwise you will be disqualified from the competition.
2. Candidates have to register themselves for this competition.
3. This competition will be in Kannada only.
4. Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium reserves the final decision on all matters/modifications related to this competition.
5. At all stages, the decision of the organizer of the competition, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, will be final. No verification, re-verification or modification is permitted.
6. Jawahar Lal Nehru Planetarium reserves the right to change the rules and stages of the competition without any prior notice.
7. Jawahar Lal Nehru Planetarium, Bangalore reserves the right to disqualify the contestant at any stage of the competition if the behavior / participation of any contestant is found to be unethical.
8. Any disputes/controversies shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Bangalore.
9. It is understood that the contestant has read and understood all the rules of the contest and registered.
10. Planetarium is not responsible for any technical difficulties on the part of the participants.

This is how it is.. A state level science quiz competition in Kannada is organized for government high school students to create interest in science among students. Only government school children are allowed to participate in these competitions.
How will this competition be conducted?: This quiz competition will have 5 stages namely block level, district level, divisional level, state level and final stage. A cash prize of 40,000 thousand rupees and a certificate of appreciation will be distributed to the first prize winning team. The second place team will get a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and the third place team will get a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
All government high schools of the state can participate in this competition. Two students from each high school are allowed to form a team and participate in the quiz competition. There should be one male and one female student in the team. In case of girls' high school, both girls in the team and both boys from boys' school are allowed to participate. Government high school students studying in class 8, 9 and 10 are eligible to participate in this competition, the release said.
